another crystalline vase... quicker to make when you don't do the little details like rims

went wild with the colors on this one

you have been having fun with crystalline glazes.

did you put mason stains on the vase and bisque it, then put a crystalline glaze over everything? Is that how you got the points of yellow?

close- I put "washes" of colorants on after bisque, then spray (or brush) with glaze- in this case applied rutile wash around most of vase, streaks of iron wash both under and over rutile wash (one or both did the yellow). Then vertical strokes of copper glaze (green); cobalt glaze (blue) filled in remaining space- glaze is Helen's Crystal (Snair), washes are colorant mixed with water. I also re-fired this one, sprayed Helen's with no colorants- came out much better.

I love the crystalline glazes. To bad the crystals don't really show up on this one.

Its not that its a bad photo I don't think. I think it is just difficult to show the crystals in a photo well.

love the oranges with the blues & greens - and the crystals seem to be really working for you, yes?

I'm kind of partial to this poor lopsided thing (the bottom cracked and fell off- too thin- I glued it back) ... re-fired this one too (and re-glued bottom )
I like the colors (used washes) and lots (maybe too many) of crystals

yes- crystals are working- not always, but certainly enough to keep playing (and re-firing! :woohoo:)
