Long overdue but what a trip it's been. The studio moved to new digs designed for ceramics- quite a job in itself- unfortunately one of our electric kilns didn't do so well and is due to get replaced soon. And then there was the new equipment to install. Not to terribly difficult although the large gas reduction kiln (bought as a unit) was about at our limits to handle. Then there were the kilns we built, each a different design- wood anigama, soda downdraft and experimental/ small load updraft. Building kilns is a challenging learning experience- block and brick laying not being skills I had.
Then comes learning how to use all this stuff- wood produces different results from soda from reduction from raku and they all work different- computer controlled electric is easy - program and walk away. Not so the others- wood is the most effort being a group affair.
New kilns means new clays, new glazes, new techniques- the learning goes on!
edit: my background must have crashed so have switched to no skin setting

Anticipation
anticipation ... our school is getting a new ceramics studio:w00t:- with expanded capabilities! :onfire: Oh Joy! :D Like gas fired kilns mmmm... ability to do higher temperature and reduction firings, also hoping for wood, raku, salt, saggar.... wow! new glazes & techniques... so much to learn, so much to experiment with!! :mwahaha:
But work has just started (renovations on existing structure) and we will not be able to move in till January, how much new equipment is in place and working remains to be seen... until then- oh boy oh boy! :excited:
OK, one more semester to go before we get there... back to work ;)
I am honored...

Time to update...
Gosh, just noticed it's been forever since I updated this space. Hitting 25,000 views on this page just seems like a good time to change it
Staying very busy with ceramics, especially now that I am assisting at school- loading and unloading kilns, pugging clay and assorted misc. jobs
Making some stuff for gift shops, some made for benefit charities (Empty Bowls Project... help fill the local community food pantries) And then a few being created just for pure art... or at least what goes for art in my head :D And when I have time... throw in a new glaze to try (must remember to post more formulas).
Also doing some shows/exhib
